The program is a backup to my Vegas movie studio so I was not too worried about it. I am an ex apple tech guy myself so I try to do my own solving as well as looking online of course. I didn't waste too much time doing so either. I simply dealt with their techs directly. No I did not join any of the forums for pinnacle studio. Early tests from others online are showing that they can in many cases beat those same intel chips at half the cost. In terms of price (half of the equivalent intel chip) I won't complain if they are a smidge behind in performance. With some optimization they may well be the cream of the crop in terms of what is offered right now. If it is as good as others are reporting we will have very low cost high end rendering machines at our disposal. Right out of the gate these new Ryzen chips look like winners. I will be testing the same video clips used in this last post to see what kind of render times we get using the new cpu. It was actually $50 cheaper for me to purchase that chip over the 17 7700k with double the cores. Just waiting for the board to come in this week so I can get the new machine up and running.Ĩ cores 16 threads for $408 canadian. I have purchased a new ryzen 1700 AMD chip. Those render times sound about in line with my 17 2600 OC to 4.1 ghz with 16 gigs of 1600 ram, running ssd HD's as well. It has relatively fast render times, according to some tests, and allows one to export edited clips as one file, without recoding, if there are no render-dependent effects, such as sharpening or stabilization. Cyberlink's PowerDirector is another inexpensive but feature-rich NLE you might test.
They are a better group to corroborate your issue than the central "support."Īs I wrote above, the vastly-delayed render time you report for basic effects does not jibe with my experience with an older version of Pinnacle, using a PC with less spec than yours. Corel / Pinnacle sponsor the platform, but the participants include some seasoned and knowledgeable people.
The Pinnacle Studio forum is a good resource. Oversight or input from the actual manufacturer or publisher may be modest, since no one can pay to have informed technicians answering "RTFM" to the hundreds or thousands of people who ask (sometimes incoherent or insoluble) things about a <$100 product. User forums are a top resource for people with problems or queries related to a product. Some confusion? You say you asked Pinnacle, but did you place your query in the Pinnacle Studio User Forum ? They are not the same thing.
